West Midlands, UK is piloting AVs

Encompassing the cities of Birmingham and Coventry, the West Midlands has played a crucial role in England’s commercial and industrial development since the Middle Ages. Today, as part of the UK Autodrive program, efforts are underway to enlist AVs as a tool for reinvigorating the local economy, in a series of tests that will parallel the pilots at Milton Keynes. In 2017, preliminary trials were conducted at the City Circuit test facility, operated by HORIBA MIRA, an engineering and test services outfit, outside the town of Nuneaton. An urban route in Coventry will be selected for on-road tests in 2018.
