Toledo, US is preparing

Once a center for glass and automobile manufacturing, Toledo will begin tests of a driverless shuttle in 2019. The effort is funded by a $1.8 million grant from the US Federal Highway Association over a three year period, and will fully cover the leasing of shuttles and subsequent operation. Toledo’s Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) officials secured the grant together with the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments. TARTA’s vision and foundational plan was outlined in their 2018 strategy document, MoveToledo.
